time for another musically infused post of unemployed nothingness :)
kitten is growing, and getting into mischief as she should be.
angry to find out this week that the new tegan and sara album has been leaked over the internet (2 months early, no less). while they aren't saying don't download it, tegan and sara have asked that you still buy the record when it comes out, because not only did they work really really hard to put this album together as a comprehensive package (it all goes.. the artwork goes with the music and the lyrics.. a total experience), if they wanted you to see and hear it now they would have released it already. Also, I would like to remind you that they aren't rich, and they don't make that much money doing what they do anyway (nevermind if no one is actually buying the record because they downloaded it illegally for free).
so - 1) buy the record.
2) real fans stay true. don't promote leaking - it's disrespectful to the artists and all their hard work.
i have to add that i love how Subterranean refers to Tegan and Sara as "the wonder twins"
continuing, my artist plug of the day is Kinnie Starr!!!

Tegan did backup vocals for her song "La le la la" (which is awesome, btw).
plus, Kinnie is Canadian. I've given you enough reasons; check her out!
If you're really feeling adventurous, you might also check out Interpol (and myspace). I'm just starting to listen to them, so I don't have a lot to say yet. However, they sound pretty good so far.
As has been my 4 going on 5 year tradition, I've been watching the WCWS (Women's College World Series) on ESPN. It is the NCAA Division I Softball Championship. It is based out of Oklahoma City every year, and the turnout is surprisingly high. Now that Jennie Finch, Alicia Holloway and Cat Osterman have moved on, the window has opened for a lot of new teams to join the running. The Longhorns aren't even in the finals this year. I of course am still cheering for Tennessee, but Baylor, the Washington Huskies, Texas A&M, and Depaul all made maiden appearances. Surprisingly there are no Cal teams to be eliminated (Bruins, Bears or whatever-CalFullerton-team-is-called) which means that TN and the ever pesky Arizona are the frontrunners (this year along with Northwestern University). Anyway, softball is an awesome sport and if you are in the path of this tropical storm and are going to get caught inside tomorrow b/c of rain, you should check out the games on ESPN. Tomorrow (sunday, june 3) Washington will face Arizona at 1pm EST, and Northwestern will take on Tennessee at 3pm EST.
you may also have noticed the change in my blog layout. I photoshopped a couple of different heading designs inspired by tegan and sara songs, among other things. i'm getting better at the ph'shopping and if i could only learn html i would customize my entire layout.
someday.
